ELECTION NEXT YEAR?

MR HOLLAND SAYS “NO.” “MR MASSEY' AFTER MR SEDDON’S RECORD.” Some of his colleagues, stated Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., leader of the Labour Party, at, iast night’s meeting at the Concert Chamber, thought that there would be a General Election next year. He, however, did not share that view. There seemed, in his opinion, to be an overwhelming desire on the part of the Reform Party that Mr Massey should beat Mr Soddon’s record as Prime Minister of Now Zealand, and the Reform Government would soft pedal fill that was accomplished But it could not be achieved until well on to the end of this Parliament. Whether, however, the election camo this year or next year, the Labour Party ought to be ready to enter the fight. They too often waited until the election was right upon them. But this time they ought to have their candidate* all selected six months, if possible twelve months, before the election took plane The other side had got the money and the newspapers, or practically all of them. The Labour Party had to rely mainly on platform work to fight the mouey-power and the Press, and they should therefore take lime well by the forelock. (Applause.)
