DAIRY EXPORT CONTROL
THE RECENT POLL GOOD MEN NEEDED FOR THE ' BOARD. DRAINS MV ST BE PAID FOR. A brief reference to the dairy control poll was made by Mr \V. J. Fob son at yesterday’s meeting of the executive of the New Zealand. Farmers’ Union. Mr Polaon said it was a matter for congratulation that the majority had been so decisive. 'Hie ballot showed there was an overwhelming majority in favour of the proposal• Ho hoped when the board was set up it would consist cf the very best men, and that nothing revolutionary would be attempted. He believed the board would have to do a great amount of ground work before it attempted anything. Mr G. Andersen (Pelorus) agreed with Mr Poison, and said that the result was duo largoly to the Farmers’ Union, who initiatecl, the control idea, which was applied first to meat, and now to dairy produce. He had confidence in tfie farmers being able to undertake thus* things, but expressed the opinion that in the past tliey had been too cheeseparing. If the best brains were wanted they must be paid for. It was a pity to spoil the ship for a ha’porth of tar, and he hoped the board would see to it.
