INQUEST ON GUARD’S ASSISTANT

DUNEDIN, October 21. Tho adjourned inqueat concerning the death of Wilfred Vivian Gain, a railway guard’s assistant, who fell off a train in the Caycrsliani tunnel on October 12th, and died in the Dunedin Hospital eaily on the following morning was concluded before Mr J. R. Ba.rtholomen. S.M., sitting as Coroner at the courthouse to-day. In reviewing the evidence the Coroner said it was only a matter of si«cciilation as to how the unfortunate mail fell off the train. Possibly a blow on the head, which he had received a week or 10 days previously had sr., ; o effect on him. A verdict was returned that death was caused by cerebral depression following injuries received bv falling oft a train in Cavorsham tunnel on October 12tli.
