Ae» auith should have included a. visit to the University in his programme at Liverpool, a party of students surrounded hia motor-car as he left hie host's residence in the morning, and insisted on the chauffeur driving to the University, where large crowds of students of both sexes vociferously cheered the captive. Mr Asquith accepted the situation good-humouredly, entered ' the ball, and delivered a brief speech, which was received enthusiastically. He was then allowed to attend luncheon at the Reform Club.
