FARMERS’ UNION
DOMINION EXECUTIVE,
The executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union met in Wellington vesterday. Mr W. J. Poison presided, and there were, also present: Messrs H. A. Kevins, T. \V. Atwood R. Dunn, G. L.. Marshall, J. H. . Joll, G*. W. Leadley, R. D. Duxfield, A. H. Herbert, G. Anderson, A. Robinson, W. B. Jtfatheeon, A. E. Harding, O. P. Lynch, R. Amott, Campbell, Ryder, C. E. Murney, Palmer, Holmes, and A. Rcss. It was resolved that the Government should be asked for financial assistance for the export of eggs. A departmental reply to a communication was read as follows: “The department is making every effort to open up all available Crown sections which are regarded as being at all suitable for settlement, and fresh sections are opened for selection practically every week. There are ample supplies of Crown lands available to meet the present demand, but, of course, the amount of available Crown lands suitable for settlement- is, as the years go on, becoming gi .dually le6S.” Another reply ran: “The department is using all possible expedition in making abandoned properties available for ©election. Under this year’s legislation, provision is made for reducing the price by revaluation where necessary, and it is hoped that, with the prices made more attractive, a large number of these properties will be taken up at an early date/’
