FRANCE UNEASY
WHAT WILL HAPTEN NEXT? UNWELCOME BURDENS. Vnbllahsd in "The Timas." LONDON, October 22. The Paris correspondent of “The Times” says that apparently the idea, in France is to keep a ring round the Rhineland. Should the Separatist movement develop where the French flag ihec. no brutalities will be allowed. The French newspapers deny that the Separatist proclamation was due to French machinations, as the Germans allege. The local population was tired of being used as an instrument of revenge against France. The French Government was unaware what was about to happen. Nevertheless anxious voices are raised, asking what will happen next. Some of the newspapers now seem strangely to bo appealing to the Ruhr industrialists to rescue not only Germany but France in the Ruhr, whore a catastrophe will happen if the labouring masses are thrown upon French harids. Everything indicates that Franco is unable to cope with the perils which are developing, and uneasiness increases.
