DOCTOR’S EXPULSION
DAMAGES FOR LIBEL.
APPEAL WITHDRAWN By Telegraph.—Press \Bsn—Copyright (Received October 23, 8.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 23. The “Medical Journal” has withdrawn its proposed appeal against the verdict for £IOOO damages awarded Dr. G. S. Thompson for a libel. Dr. Thompson was expelled by the B.M.A. for his actions in connection with the detention of a patient in a mental asylum. He sued the B.M.A. for damages, and won the case, but the jury’s decision was upset by tho High Court, and Dr. Thompson has now appealed to the Privy Council. The action mentioned above is distinct from the other.
