YOUNG CITIZENS’ LEAGUE
AT NGAIO SCHOOL. A very pleasant and satisfactory afternoon was spent at Ngaio School yesterday 'by some members of the executive Airs Anderson, Messrs G. R. Mitchell, Stevenson and P. Bennett when a new branch was formed. Air Clark, the headmaster, received the visitors and with his staff had everything ready for the ceremony. In the absence of Mr G. Troup, the president, Mr Mitchell, presided; the National Anthem was sung, and short speeches were made by Mrs Anderson on veneration, Mr Stevenson on loyalty, and Mr F. Bennet on obedience. The certificates of memberslup were given out and each child was welcomed to the league. Between 40 and 50 boys and girls joined the organisation. On behalf of the children Victor j&ando, a senior scholar, in a happy little speech, thanked the party for going out and putting them through the ceremony of initiation Mr Clark also stressed his appreciation of their attendance, and strongly pressed the urgent need of a playing area, for the girie and boys of the district. Mr Mitchell expressed hia pleasure and gratification at the interest taken by the teachers in the proceedings.
