ARGENTINE MOVE. FAVOURABLY AFFECTS DOMINION. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated October 39th, 19*23, advising Smithiield delivered prices at that date as follow*: Prime Canterbury Lamb, 29/361b IOJd per lb, 37/421b per lb, 43/501 b 9}d ner ib; second quality lambs, lOd per lb; other selected brands of lamb, 29/361b IOJd, S7/421b lOjd per lb. Mutton, light weight wethers Sid per lb, medium 7Jd per lb, heavy 7|d per lb; ewes. 6d per lb. Ox beef, fores 2Jd per lb, hinds per lb. The Argentine Government have fixed the minimum price* for beef payable to growers. These prices are higher than present prices, in consequence of which New Zealand beef prices are much firmer. DAIRY PRODUCE GOOD MARKET EXPECTED. Messrs W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., cable dairy quotation* as follows: Butter—Danish, October 19th 200 s to 2025, October 12th 202 s to 2065: New Zealand unsalted, October 19th 204 s to 2065, October 12th 204 s to 20Gs; New Zealand salted, October 19th 19fe to 1925, October 12th 190 s to 1945. Market slow. New Zealand exceptional quality, 6&lted, quoted up to 1965, but spot market weaker. (’heese—New Zealand white October 19th 112 s to 116 s, October 12th 104 s to 110®; New Zealand coloured, October 19th 114 s to 116 e, October 12th 108 s to 110 s; very little New Zealand cheese available. Alarket quiet. Forward market—Forward buyers will not operate generally at present, although sales of small parcels of butter for October shipment are reported. Messrs W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., are still of the opinion that butter and cheese arriving up to December will meet good markets. SHIPMENTS. Further allotments of space for dairy produce have been made for steamers sailing in November, and basing our estimates on these allotments we can make the following comparison:— BUTTER.

October-November figures for 1923 are estimates only. It is interesting to note the heavy increase in Cheese figures, showing tendency in the past of dual factories to manufacture cheese in preference to butter. LONDON FROZEN MEAT MARKET. As compared with last week's quotations, Conterbury mutton is ±d cheaper, North Island mutton and ewes £d cheaper. Lamb and beef unchanged. LONDON PRICES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 19th instant: — "New Zealand frozen meat—Lamb, lo|d per lb (average). Mutton wether and maiden ewe, light 8d per lb, heavy 7±d per lb; ewe, light 6d per lb, heavy ssd per lb. Beef—Prices unchanged. (Last quotations, October 12th, 1923: Ox, hinds 4i<l per lb, fores 2id per lb; cow, hinds 3 id per lb, fores 2£d per lb). Market weak. New Zealand dairy produce: Butter, 190 s to 196 s per cwt. Market slow. Cheese,' 112 s to 116 s per cwt. Small supplies. FEILDING SALE Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having a fair yarding ot sheep ana cattle at their Feilding sale on Friday, the 19th instant. There was a good demand throughout the day, and practically all lines changed hands. Quotations Light fat ewes, 28e; fat ewes, 36s Id; shorn and fat ewes, 275, 31s Bd, 32s 3d; light fat shorn wethers, 30s 9d; small mixed 2-tooths, 18s 2d; good wether hoggets, 29s 9d; ewe hoggets, 30s; backward springing heifers, JB4 2s 6d to £4 10s; springing cows. <£6 5s to 49105; choice yearling Jersey heifers, £7 Is; fat cows, «£6 85 to £7 II9; fat bullocks, AtlO 15s to J 811; fresh-conditioned 3-year steers, £S 12s to je6 19s; 2-year Jersey bulls, <£4. HUNTERVILLE PRICES. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report at the Hunterville cattle fair on the 18th instant offering 620 head of mixed cattle, of which they sold 381 head. There was a poor demand for grown bullocks, but young cattle met with* a ready sale. Prices realised were as follow;—Fat cows, £9 14s to «£lO 10s; fat heifers, £7 6s to J2B; 4 and 5-year bullocks, «£5 2s 6d, £5 5s to £6 ss; 2-year steers, £4 14e, £4 18s to «£5 ss; 15-months steeTs, £3, «£3 10s to £i 3s; 2-year empty heifers, £2 16s to 15s; yearling heifeNs, £1 12s to £2 15s; empty cows, £2 9s, £2 17s to £3 15s; mixed yearlings, *SI 10s, £2 t £2 7s to <£2 15s; springing cows to JBS; Jersey bulls, £4 15a to £0; S.
