Hairdressers in New York will promably do less damage to the haar of some of their clients as a result of the forming of a State Ptermanent Hair ■Wavers’ Association by 42 leading wavers of New York. . The new president of the Sydney Lyceum Club is a well-known Auckland lady, Mre Robert Williams, who was formerly Miss Edith Clarke, daughter of the late Mr S. I. Clarke, and brings to the position both distinguished literary as well as social qualifications. Mrs Williams has been convenor of the Literary Study Circle of the club for some time past, and her knowledge of general literature has been of great assistance to the members (says the “Sydney Mornig Herald”). She is a Ranfurly Medallist of the New Zealand University, and studied with Rudolph Steiner, Doctor of Philosophy, Vienna, leaving Europe just before the war. Mrs Williams has travelled in Java and the Northern Territory, and her lectures on these places ore always greatly enjoyed. She has taken an active interest in Imperial trade and immigration, and was secretary of tho National Economy Association* of Australia.
