POLICE COURT
YESTERDAY’S SITTING
A short session of tho Police Court was presided over by Messrs I. SaJek and 0'V. Key, Justices of the Peace, yesterday morning On failing to put in an appearance four first offenders for insobriety were each ordered to forfeit the amount of their bail, 10s in each case. A second lapso placed Albert William Kirkland under the obligation of forfeiting *£l or spending twenty-four hours in gaol. For a similar offence Janies Wright was convicted ai.d discharged, and on a further charge of casting offensive matter on the footpath lie was fined ICx. At the Mount Cook Police Station two first offenders were dealt with !>v Mr R. D. Hanlon, J.P. One v;as convicted and discharged, the oth.'r being fined ss, in default twenty-four hours imprisonment. Insobriety also resulted in a second offender, William Bannister, being fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours imprisonment.
