NATIONALIST PLOTS
SAXON PREMIER’S EXPOSURE. Australian, and N.Z. Cable Association. BERLIN, October 19. Remarkable scenes occurred in the Saxon Diet, where the Premier, Herr Zeigner, declared, in a speech, that it was a fact that the Reich had an illegal army, and that many of these illegal organisations in the neighbourhood of Berlin would have attempted a rising at the beginning of October, but were prevented by the Prussian police. They had been training for four or six weeks this summer at Konigsbruck; and 100,000 of their members had lately been enrolled in the Reichswehr and had been armed. The Entente knew of these things, and would put an end to them. NATIONALISTS WALK OUT. A member of the People’s Party retorted, accusing Herr Zeigner of open treachery. Tumult among the Communist members followed, whereupon the Nationalists walked out of the House. The differences between the Imperial and the Saxon Governments, which have been exaggerated by Herr Muller’s peremptory decrees, have now extended to a quarrel between Saxony and Bavaria. Saxony announced its intention of changing its charge d’affaires in Munich, but the Bavarian Government Jia6 refused to recognise his successor as long as the Communists were included in the Saxon Cabinet. Bavaria has also recalled its Minister from Dresden. DEATH FOR TERRORISTS HERB MUELLER’S THREAT. Renter’s Telegram. (Received October 21, 11.40 p.m.) BERLIN, October 21. ■Herr Mueller lias notified the Saxon Premier that he .is instructed to use the troops at his disposal to restore order in Saxony, and he hopes to receive the support of tho Saxon Government in that connection. He has also issued a proclamation of his intention to put down terrorism, threatening the death penalty to ' anyone forcibly opposing his measures. A communique announoes the diemissal of Von Lossow and the provisional substitution of Von Krcsaenstein, to whom President Ebert requested the Bavarian Government to make proj>osals regarding tire appoint ment of a commander of the Reichswehr in Bavaria. BREACH OF CONSTITUTION BAVARIA’S LATEST ACT. Reuter’s Telegram. (Received October 22, 0.15 a.m.) BERLIN. October 21. Tho Bavarian Government has issued a proclamation stating that in the interests of public peace, pending the restoration of normal relations with the Imperial Government, von l-ioseow has been reinstated as commandant of the Bavarian Rcicliswehr. A semi-official communication says that the Bavarian Government’s latest measure in refeience to the appointment of ton Lossow represents an open breach of the Constitution of the Empire, and declares that this action by a responsible German provincial Government renders it difficult for the Reich to concentrate its strength in opposing destructive influence from outside.
