PAPYRUS FOUR LENGTHS BEHIND THE AMERICAN. RACE NEVER IN DOUBT. B.v Telegraph.—Press Assn.-Copyright. Australian aud N.Z. Cable* Association. (Received October 21, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 20. The international hors© race at Belmont Park resulted: — Zev (America) 1 Papyrus (England) 2 Zev won by four le’ hs. Time, 2min 35 2-osee. Zev got away with the lead, Papyrus seeming to stop. The American colt took th© load as he passed the paddock gate, and was a length ahead until he reaped the borne stretch, where his jockey, Sande, oalled upon him for 6peed. Papyrus was driven hard by Steve Donoghue, but failed to get up. When he passed under the wire Zev was running under restraint. GREAT CROWD PRESENT. Few international sporting events in past years have aroused so much popular interest as this race, which was witnessed by more than 70,000 people —one of tbe greatest crowds in American turf history. The weather was fair, but the track was heavy as the result of Tain whioh fell yesterday. There was uncertainty before the race as to whether Zev would run, and My Own was summoned as a possible substitute, owing to Zev not working well on Wednesday morning, and developing blotches, Which it was thought might be hives. The locomotive of the special train carrying My Own from Maryland to Belmont Park jumped the trick, hut so far as is known My Own was not hurt.
