All hope ot rescuing any of the entombed miners alive from the Redding pit vanished to-day. when the company officially announced that on gaining entry to number two section, two men, David Brown and Thomas Brown, were found dead from the effect of blackdamp. Out of (■(> men originally entombed, 26 were rescued alive, and 14 bodies bowi recovered. Every effort in being made to recover tho rest of tho bodies.
