SPIRITED BIDDING. Messrs Harcouvt and Co. bad an exceptionally large attendance at tlicir rooms on Thursday afternoon, when, under instructions from Messrs Barker and O’Donovan, solicitors to the trustees, they submitted twelve city and suburban dwellings, two vacant sections and the Urey town Hotel, Greytown, in the estate of the late Mrs Honorah Firth. No. 150, Oriental parade, a 6-roomed residence, having a frontage of 40ft by a depth of 100 ft, was sold after most spirited hidding to Mr Aldridge for the sum of £3450. No 45, Ellice street, a 6-roomed rosidorce, with a frontage of 70ft to Ellice 61root and 64ft to Brougham street, was 6cld to Mr A. Gustafson for ,£2250. No. 58, Ellice streor, of 7 rooms, was sold to Mr P. Nausbaum far £ISOO. The next property offered was Nos. 53 and 55, Rugby street, two well-built semidetached 6-roomed residences, on land with a frontage of 37ft by a depth and frontage of 120 ft to Belfast street, was passed in at £2625, which was just shoit of tho reserve. Nos. 63 and 65, Rintonl street, each of 6 rooms on one floor, with frontages of 34ft by depths of 187 ft, were passed in at £1275 and £IOOO respectively, the reserves beinj? £1350 and £llOO. No. 15, Waripori street, a 6-roomed residence, was in at £IOSO, but afterwards sold to Mr Piercy for £llOO. No. 30, TTaripori street, of 4 rooms on a large -section of land l , was sold to Mr Tieadgolol for £775. No. 9, Gordon street, n 5-roomed dwelling, situated almost in the shopping centre of Newtown, wag passed in at £BSO, the upset price being £9OO. No. 62, Eden .street. Island Bay, a pleasantly situated 6-roomed residence, for which £IOSO was bid, yas passed in, the reserve being £llOO, The two vacant sections, situated at the corner of Derwent and Moselle streets, were passed in, as was the Greytown. Hotel, of 18 rooms, on one acre of land. The total sale* amounted to £9075 and the auctioneers fully expect that the greater part of the unsold properties, Which are all in good order and in specially picked localities, will be sold within the course of a few days.
