YOUNG CITIZENS’ LEAGUE

VISIT TO WADESTOWX SCHOOL. Several meu-bera of the executive ol the league viaited Wade&town school thia week in order U> term a new branch of the league. Air S. H. Ferguson, headmaster, received the visitors— Metssrs <i Troup Lprcai-lenf, G, 11. Mitchell (secretary’, Meadames UJmtfjid, Anderwn, Mc-Guinne-s Alicses Loddar and Thornykins irhe lour last represented the Y.W C.A.t, .Mr IJislop, Rev. Catnerwood and Mr F. Bennett. Much ciedit is due to the headmaster and the teaching staff tor the trouble they took to make- the gathering a *uct ess. The pupils were well p:epared and many items of interest were written on the blackboards relating to the qualities of true citizenship. The proceedings were opened by the singing of the National Anthem. Mr Troup and explained what w as meant by the oath to be taken by th® children m a forceful and lucid manner, lie expressed great satisfaction when told that all the pupils of the main school were to become members of the league. After the names were called each child was asked to place his right hand over his loft b:ca-t and repeat own name and ray : —“I p/nubo, on my honour, to do my best. day Ijr day, in thought, won! and deed, and to boronie a true and worthy citizen.” The chib.iron uere lined up and passed before tho members of the executive, who r-book bonds and at the same time congratulated and weleome<l them ns new mem hors.
