FOR THE SOUTH SEAS
SCIENTISTS AND SPORTSMEN, BIG EXPEDITION. Anstredian and N Z. Cable Awoeintioft (Received October 18, 5.-5 p.m.) LONDON, October 17. An expedition led by Commander Frank Worsley, who was associated with Shackleton’s expeditions, comprising 70 scientists and sportsmen, _ will leave in December to visit _ British Guiana, the Pacific islands, New Zealand, Australia, Malay States, and Ceylon. . . The expedition’s work will be principally devoted to scientific and educational purposes. Ocean soundings will bo taken, and doubtful charting data checked. Expeditions will be made in the Pacific islands, and the life and customs of the natives studied and filmed. The Fly River, in New Guinea, will bo surveyed. In New Zealand films will be taken illustrative of the city and country life of the people. It is proposed to take films of the sugar plantations in Queensland, and o! stock-raising and pearl fishing. Experiments will bo made with underwater photographs Part of the time of the expedition w ill be devoted to big game hunting.
