MINING DISPUTE
CONFERENCE URGED. BULLER PROGRESS LEAGUE’S DECISION. Per Press Association. WESTPORT, October 18. At a meeting of the executive of the Buffer Progress League this afternoon it was decided to send a telegram to the Minister for Mines urging him to convene a conference of miners’ delegates and mine-owners, with a view to settling the dispute that was causing a stoppage at the mines. It was also decided to ask Mr H. E. Holland, M.P., to convey the message to the Minister. SETTLEMENT LIKELY POSITION DISCUSSED. It is understood that there is a likelihood of a settlement of the coal trouble next week. A conference discussed matters, and all hut one of them still remains in dispute.
