WELLINGTON CLUB. “MORE CARNIVALS SHOULD BE HELD/’ The twenty -ninth annual meeting at the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club took place at the A.M.C.A. last night. The report showed that there was a big increase in membership, but there was still room for improvement. FINANCE. The financial statement 6howed that the club started tlfe reason with a credit balance of i 513, and finished with a balance of JBIB 13s id, which was considered very satisfactory. The committee expressed its appreciation of the services of Mr \Y. J. Look, and regretted that a motor accident prevented him being present at the meeting. The report and balance-sheet were adapted. OFFICE-BEARERS. The following office-bearers were elected : President, Mr J. P. Maxwell; vicepresidents, Dr A. K.. Newman, A. Begg, H. Price, H. C. Jackson, R. A. Wrighi, W. Cowan, E. Brewer, Captain Watson, R A. Nichol, T. inglis, R. Dwyer, Jr*. J, Fanning; captain, Mr C. V. Jr'ordham; vice-captain, Mr H. SVinstanley; executive committee, Messrs McNie, L. Vango, E. Corin, E. Morpeth; delegates to Wellington Swimming Centre, Messrs J. McNie and W. J. Look.

It was decided to make the subscription 3s for members over 18 and Is for members under 18 years. A motion of sympathy was passed with the secretary, Mr Look, who recently met with, a motor accident. It was also decided to give the secretary the usual honorarium.

Mr A. Farnall thought that the Wellington Club should held more carnivals. In Auckland, stated -Mr Farnall, the clubs there each held several carnivals during the year, and there was no reason why the Wellington Club should not do the same. He moved a motion to the effect that the club should hold, either on or before Christmas Day, a carnival, which he thought would be a big success.

Mr Beasley supported Mr Farnall’s contention, and thought that though the last carnival had not been a success as far as the public patronage was concerned, it was, in his opinion, one of the best carnivals he. had 6een in Wellington. He thought that until they got the tepid baths they would not be able to hold as many carnivals a** they could wish, for there was always an element of risk in connection with the weather when the carnivals were held in the Tc Aro Baths, 6r other baths of a similar nature.

Mr Farnall thought that a deputation should go from the club to wait upon the City Council to ask permission to hold a carnival on Christinas Day. He would add this •* an amendment to his motion. —The motion, as,, it stood, was carried.

A motion was" moved by Mr Beasley that a recommendation be made to the Wellington Centre that they try to obtain a Tebate on season tickets to the Te Aro Baths for member© of the affiliated swimming clubs. The motion was carried.
