At the meeting of the Canterbury District Railway Committee, Mr W. H. Nicholoon advanced the suggestion that the main pas&eiigor station for Christchurch should he located at Addington. He said that if this were done there would he more room for the goods traffic at Christchurch, and there would not be the same complaints about congestion as at present. Mr Nicholson said that th© passengers from the north, and south could alight at Addington almost at the same time as the train could roach the Christchurch station. The Christchurch station would be used only for Lyttelton passengers. Mr P. ft. C limic said that since the new goodß-shed had been erected at Christchurch complaints of congestion in goods traffic had been few and far between. Mr J. P. Mitchell (District Traffic Manager): “There have been none.” Ho pointed out that the congestion which had occurred two or three yenr» ago had been caused by the unprecedented importations.
