At the meeting of the Wellington Education Board, the executive made the following recommendations: (1) That members were present at a demonstration of various types of portable cinema machines kindly undertaken by Mr Cresswcll, of the Y.M.C.A. staff. A number of teachers were present at the demonstration. The thanks of the board are due to the Y.M.C.A., to Mr Creeswell, and to Mr Alderson. (2) That as the board is not provided with the means to inaugurate the plan of instruction by cinema, the dir rector of Education be requested to indicate the future policy of his department regarding the use of the instrument in schoolrooms; and that as the board would like as an experiment to try tho plan in actual school use, inquiry be made whether the department will provide a sum of under £SO, sufficient to meet the co6t of a portable machine. (3) That the proposal of the Educational Picture Company be submitted to the Headmasters’ Association for an expression of opinion. (4) That the letter of the Fox Film Company be received.
