METHODISM

QUARTERLY MEETING. There was a large attendance of officials at tho quarterly meeting held at Taranaki street on the loth instant, the Rev. C. Eaton being in the chair. It was reported that 446 names were cm the members roll at Wesley, 100 at Brooklyn, and, 2 5 at Aro street-. The finances showed a steady improvement. Tli© Sunday School report showed an average attendance of 184, and encouraging information was given as to the results among the senior scholars on “Declaration” day. Over £SO was raised for the school funds, and in addition a generous donation of £IOO was received for a-spe-cial purpose from Mrs Tattle in memory of her late husband, who for many years was an enthusiastic worker for the Sunday School. The young people’s work showed abounding life, .with a tendency to over-devclop the social side at tho expense of more spiritual work. JOINING FORCES. The most important business of the meeting was the question of the Central Mission joining forces with Taranaki Street Circuit. 'The facts were fully explained to the meeting and the problems involved freely discussed. On the motion of the circuit stewards it was resolved that the union of forces was advisable at the earliest possible date, and that Wesley Church should remain tho centre of activities, retaining its name and order of servico. The motion will be sent to conference for action, and also laid before tho members of Wesley.
