VALEDICTORY
i A very enjoyable function took place at Manukau last Tuesday evening, when the people of Manukau gathered together to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Walshaw, who are leaving this district. The hall was beautifully decorated with ferns and streamers, while the supper arrangements were first-class. During the evening Mr L. Atkins expressed the feeling of the Manukau people at losing such good workers as Mr and Mrs Walshaw. Mrs Walshaw had made herself very popular during tier short stay in Manuknu. and she was always to the front to give a helping band in any of the town's undertakings. During the recent carninival she had worked strenuously for each queen. Mrs Walshaw was mad© ! the recipient of a small token to show the esteem in which she was hold. Danoing was then indulged in. the Rikihana orchestra, from Utaki, supplying the music. During the evening Mr Wnleliaw sang “Queen of the Earth," and was: recalled. Mr and Mrs Walshaw leave for Sydney, where they intend to make a short, stay, probably returning New Zealand in the near future.
