(Received October 16, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 15. The Imperial Conference delegates returned from Cbatsworth' where they spent the week-end as the guests of the Duke, and Duchess’of Devonshire, and the Conference reassembled in the afternoon. As was anticipated, the report of the Imperial Committee on Defence was takMi up on a statement by Lord Salisbury, chairman of the committee, who outlined the subject in general terms. The chief speakers following Lord Salisbury were Mr Bruce and Mr Massey. Merely incidental reference was mads to the naval side of the question, and a sitting for its fuller consideration will probably be held on Wednesday. To-morrow the Economic Conference resumes, when the question of transport is likely to be debated, and the possibilities of the airship discussed. IRISH DELEGATES ABSENT. Renter’s Telegram. (Received October 16, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 15. The Imperial Conference decided that to-dav’s proceedings will not be published. It is still unsettled when the debate on foreign policy will he continued. The official oommuhique shows that the Irish delegates did not attend. It is understood that Lord Salisbury’s statement dealt with broad principles, and not details of defence. Mr Mackenzie King, Mr Bruce, and Mr Massey briefly contributed to the discussion. ,
