The "23th annual report of the Wellington Amateur Swinfming Club, to be presented at. the annual meeting, states that the membership shows an, increase, but there is still room for improvement, i The financial statement discloses that the year was commenced with a credit balance of J 213, and finished with a balance of ATB 13s 4d. The carniial showed a profit Of about XlO. I The winners of the events were:—Pre- ! sident’s cup, Mr Robinson; commemoration cup, Mr Prince; Duthie cup, Mount ! Cook School; Coltman cap, Clyde quay i School. The evening races were -not , patronised by members to the extent they should have been.. Those with years of experience realised that there was no better practice than the weekly races for increasing the speed. Members could do more in the way of taking an interest in the races by helping the committee at the baths, and not leaving all the work to the committee. ThankO are accorded to the treasurer. Mr McArdle, the handicapper, Mr Caiman, while regret wrte expressed at the serious illness of the president, Mr Maxwell, and pleasure at his recovery. Appreciation is Bhown in the services of the non. secretary, Mr W. J. Lock, who will ba unable to bo present at the meeting owing to having' met with a motor accident. Thanks were also accorded to Messrs J. P. Maxwell, R. A. Nicol, A. Begg, T. Inglis, W. Cowan, end F. Fanning for donations. '
