ONCE AGAIN
MOASCAR CUP DISPUTE HAWKE'S BAY UNION’S VIEWS. Again the Moascar Cup intruded upon tho deliberations of the New Zealand ; Rugby Union last evening. This was when a letter was received from the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union protesting against the second reversal of the New Zealand body’s decision on the subject of the Maori Agricultural College-New i Plymouth High School match. ! '‘Viewing all the circumstances, esj pecially as ,Te Ante College, who have already played in this competition, are in the same position,” read the letter, "my union are unanimous that the New Zealand Union in again reversing their decision have not, from the public point of view, acted in the best interests of the game. Your union can quite understand that' the continual debating of the eligibility of the M.A.C. does not tend to harmonious relations at this end.” BACKING MR WOOD. The letter further stated that Mr SJ. E. Wood, the Hawke’s Bay president, had simply stated that M.A.C. and Te Aute were on the same footing as far as the Department of Education was concerned, and that the Union had every confidence in Mr Wood.
Mr E. Wylie : I move that the chairman and Mr Fletcher be appointed to draft, a reply. "Oh, he's flattened out,” said Mr T. Fletcher. "Yes, he’s run off the rails,” was Mr E. McKenzie’s comment.
Mr 8. S. Dean : The whole position is clear. Maori Agricultural College are not eligible, and he’s trying to draw a red herring across the trail. Mr W. S. Glenn: Still you want someone responsible to undertake the drafting of a reply. Mr Dean ; Oh, yes; a reply will have to be sent.
The chairman -and Mr Fletcher were accordingly appointed to make the reply to the Hawke's Bay Union.
