ELECTION OF SENATOR
COUNTRY PARTY’S NOMINATION. WIDENING THE BREACH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. SYDNEY, October 13, The Progressive Party has nominated Mr P. P. Abott, formerly Federal member for New England, as the Country Party's candidate for the Senate vacancy. If the Country and Labour Parties unite to defeat. Mr Massy Green© on Wednesday, it is felt that the breach between the Country and the National Parties will be widened in Now South Wales, and also in the Commonwealth.
The present Commonwealth Cabinet holds power through tlie support of the National ancf Country Parties, neither of which is strong enough to govern alone. Mr Massy Greene, who was Minister for Customs, was defeated at the general election.
