FORTY YEARS’ PRESIDENT
MR GOMPERS RE-ELECTED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Aasooiatioß (Received October 14, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, October 13. At tho conference of the American Federation of Labour, at Portland, Mr Sam Gompers was re-elected president unanimously. All the present officers of the federation were also re-elected.
Mr Gompcrs, who is a cigar-maker hy trade, was one of the founders of the Federation of Labour, and, wilh an intermission of one year, has been its president for 40 years.
