HIGHER PRICES REALISED. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, February 6. Owing to the holiday to-morrow, Cup Day, the Burn-side weekly stock sale was held to-day. Tho yardings of fat stock were on the small side, with the result’ that there was keen, competition for most classes and higher prices were realised for sheep, pigs and fat cattle entry. Fat cattle.—'There was a much smaller yarding than was the case the week previously. The yarding totalling 198 head, principally medium to prime bullocks, with the usual yarding of cows and heifers. Prices opened at last week’s rates, but after a race and a half had been ►old values improved to the exent ot 20s per head. Prime ox -beef made from 23s fid to 30s per 1001 b, medium and han4yweighls 80s to 31s, light and medium quality 27s fid to 28& 6d, prime heifer beef 22s od, prime cow beef 20s and aged and light cow beef 18s. Fat sheep.—A small yarding, numbering 1310 head. A number of the pens contained animals only suitable for graziers, and' the sparse entry caused prices to firm at tlie outset, but they eased as the sale advanced. On the whole wethers sold at an advance of *2s 6d per head and ewes slightly more. Prime liandyweight wethers made from 6ld to fi|d per pound, prime' heavyweights 6d to 6Fd, medium quality wethers ssd to 6d, prime ewe mutton s£d to 6d, and age! and light 5d to s£<l. Extra prime heavyweight wethers realised up to 495, prime 41s to 445, medium 36s to 38s, light and unfinished sorts from 30s to 325. Extra prime heavyweight ewes realised up to 40s 3d, prime 34s to 3Gs, medium 28s to 30s, light and aged 21s to 235. Eambe.—A medium yarding, numbering 878 head, compared with 1342 last week, and prices advanced fully Is per head. Extra prime lambs realised up to 40s 3d, prime -31 s to 31s, medium 29s to 3Js, lighter sorts 22s fid to 255, prime lamb 104 d to lOfd per lb, lightweights 10d, and medium quality 9id to 9|d. Store cattle.—A largo yarding, which included a large line of four, five and 'six-year-old bullocks from tho Morven Hills district. There was good competition for these and heavyweights sobl up to 13s and lighter sorts up to JC2 10ft per head. Other classes of stores realised late rates and a few pens of half to quarter fat cows sold from lfis to <£3 5s per head. Tigs.—*A small entry. There was an excellent demand and a clearance was quickly effeoted at higher prices. Best bacon era realised up to 7oi- and best porkers up to 8d per lb.
