EMPIRE EXHIBITION
DUKE OF DEVONSHIRE RESIGNS. REASON NOT STATED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 5, 8 p.m.) LONDON, February 4. It is rumoured that the Duke of Devonshire has resigned from the chairmanship of the British Empire Exhibition, and that Sir Robert Horne has not accepted the invitation to succeed him. It is understood the Duke of Devonshire’s resignation is not connected with Sir W. Joyston-Hicks’s report, which will be issued to-morrow, hut is due to difficulty in retaining the post sinco his appointment as Colonial Secretary.
