KHANDALLAH ROAD
HOMEBUSH ESTATE. THE CONTRACT FINISHED, A visit of inspection was paid by the Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright, M.P.) yesterday morning to the new Khandallah road and the Homebush estate. The construction of the new road to Khandallah was found to be well under way, about three-fourths of the road having been finished and metalled. The workmen are now principally engaged on a big cutting near the Hutt road. About 65ft remain to he done. A good deal of excavation will require to be carried out at the point where the new road junctions with the Hutt road, and in order to avoid landslips, the hillside will have to be cut well hack.
The roading of the Homebush estate, the property of the City Council, has been completed, and most of the metalling has been finished. The roads open up some very fine sections, which will be offered for sale when water and drainage have been connected up.
