TECHNICAL COLLEGE
INCREASE"'IN PUPILS. The Wellington Technical College opened yesterday with an increased number of pupils. At the beginning of the first term in 1921 the number of pupils enrolled was 288, and last year at the beginning of the year the total increased to 340. Yesterday, Mr J. H. Howell, director of the college, reported that 537 pupils presented themselves for enrolment in the various classes.
Work is being conducted in the por tion of the college which is completed at Mount Cook, but the accommodation there is not sufficient to house all the classes. In the meantime, engineering, art, and other classes are being held in the old buildings in Wakefield and Mercer streets.
