THE CONCLUDES GREAT INTEREST TAKEN IN QUEEN CONTEST ATHLETIC SPORTS GATHERING The Eastbourne carnival was concluded on Saturday evening. The attendance at both the afternoon and evening- sessions for the last day was exceptionally good. During the afternoon the high wind made things unpleasant throughout the carnival ground. lit the evening the cabaret dancing was a popular feature, and many young people crossed the bay especially for this purpose. A variety concert was given* by Mr Culford Bell and a, party of his pupils. This was well attended, and all were treated to & highly entertaining-performance. MISS G. RUSSELL QUEEN. The voting for the Queen election was very heavy throughout the day. The poll closed at 8 p.m. Tlie following are the results : Mias G. Russell, Football Club candidate, 52,646 votesT 1 Miss V. All the sporting events were closely contested. In the- two-mile run Scatcliard put up a very fine finish, his time being lOmin 33sec.
