SUSPECTED SUICIDE
“I CAN’T GET BETTER.” James A. Griffiths, aged 39, a married man, with four children, who was found dead at To Aroha, was employed as a sharemilker by Mr Thomas Curran, of Te Aroha West, and had been in poor health for some months. He had lately returned from a holiday in the Wellington province, and though depressed he seemed somewhat improved in health. He rose early and got a cup of tea, returning to bed again. An hour later his wife missed him, and search was made. He was found in front of the house, lying down, with a bottle of lysol -beside nim. Help was immediately obtained, but he succumbed. Griffiths left a note which read “Good-bye, dear wife and children. Don’t think too hard of me. I can’t get better. I am finished.”
