ADVANCES TO SOLDIERS
A MISUNDERSTANDING. . In an official statement, the depart inent concerned explains :- —There-seems to.be a misunderstand-ing-among-relumed soldiers regarding the extent-to-which advances under the D;S:S. Act are at present being made. . The advances now being made are (a). Loans for small .farms for badlydisableiLandjT.B. men;, and (b) Joans for the-creotion. of, houses-to badly-dis-abled men,-T.£. men,- and, men who had _ purchased sections prior to the slowing-down of advances in November, 1921. At no time have advances for the’ badly-disabled and T.B. men been stopped. Since the slowing-down of advances in November of last year until the. middle of August, 219, cases, involving loans amounting to £201,170 have been settled.
