Mr Hughes deolinea to state definitely whether he is leaving Bendigo, but he explained that if the area were increased under the redistribution scheme he might seek a National stronghold, with the object of freeing himself from hiß own electorate for party services. The “Daily Telegraph’s” correspondent suggests that owing to the altered character of Bendigo Mr Hugh&e is displaying timidity. Another obstacle to his path to North Sydney is the fact that Mr Archdale Parkhill, the National ’ Association secretary, has been nursing the new seat for several months, .and shows no sign of withdrawing.
