DEATHS FROM POISON
MYSTERIOUS DISEASE IN ROSS. SHIRE. EXTRAORDINARY' SYMPTOMS. Australian and N.Z. Cable AssociatUM LONDON, August 19. Seven people have died in Roes-shire from poisoning. “The Times,” describing the symptoms, says several of the patients complained of double vision. Others woke seeing double. T3en sickneea developed, and this was followed by paralysis of the muscles of the throat, making speech impossible. Otherwise the sensibility of the patients was not affected, and they were conscious till the end. Tho sufferers were unable to speak, and communicated their wishes and explained their symptoms by writing. They felt very little pain. The “Daily Mail” states that the illness resembles nothing so much as the strange disease known as grass fever, which killed horses wholesale in the north of Scotland.
