Montague Thomas Sabine Pasley, accountant with Hoadley, Sbn, and Stewart, Ltd., merchants and auctioneers, of Hastings, appeared at the oourt to-day on remand, charged on seven counts with stealing, on different dates between last December and July, various sums' amounting to £471 13s 3d, the property of the firm. Tho accused, who had given himself up, pleaded guilty to all the charges. In a signed statement to the polioe, the accused admitted all tho charges. He said. he joined the firm thirteen yearn ago, and about a year after that he commenced taking small amounts. Before he realised it be found himself deeply involved, until he could bear _ the strain no longer. He kept a private account of all his defalcations, and he had handed it to the auditor. None of the money waa saved, but he spent it principally in gambling. Tho total defalcations amounted to _ a very large sum. Accused was committed tor sentence at the present sittings of the Supreme Court at Napier.
