THE COMPETITIONS
TO COMMENCE THIS MORNING.
Wellington’s big oompeWtdons festival will commence at toe Town Hall and Concert Chamber at 10 o’clook this morning and will oontinue throughout the day. At the Town Hall this evening tihe official opening of the festival will be held, when the patron of the society, His Excellency the Governor-General, and the vicepatron, His Worship the Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright, _M.P.), will be present and take part in the proceedings. The programme .arranged for the evening function will consist of vocal and instrumental solos, recitations, stories without words, etc., by the leading competitors of the dhv sessions. Patrons are reminded that the concerts each evening will oommefice at 7.45 and are .advised to book their seats at the Bristol.
