HOCKEY COMPETITIONS
LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIPS. (To the Editor “N.Z. Times.") Sir, —I beg to ask if you would be good enough to find space in your paper'-for the publication of this letter, which sets forth the manner in which the championship of the junior ladies’ hookey teams is determined. The method is not equitable, and does not represent truly the state of affairs, and for certain clubs who have put in a strenuous, and up to date a successful season, the encouragement which true sport and arduous work deserves is conspicuous by its absence. The position-of the junior ladies at the end of the second round is as under: A Grade.
There seems to be a lot of mismanagement in the manner in which the championship of this grade is determined. For instance, the final round, which is now being played, consists of the three leading teams of both grades, with the difference of 6 and 8 points respectively. These teams all play off on an equal footing. In the interests of sport, 1 think the public should be acquainted with tho above facts. , FAIR PLAY.
