HARBOUR COLLISION
NAUTICAL INQUIRY FINDING. TIEOA CAPTAIN FOUND LIABLE. PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 5. The finding of the nautical inquiry into the harbour collision between the ferrjfj!steamer Peregrine and the Gisborne Sheepfarmersf steamer Tiroa, on May 13th, was that Captain Clarjp, of the Tiroa, was liable as he to give an indication of his change of course. No order was made concerning his certificate, but he has to pay the costs of the inquiry. The court made recommendations for the safety of harbour traffic to the effect that ships should' keep a certain distance out when rounding the wharf; that to make ferry steamers’ lights more visible some of the white lights be screened; that a look-out man on ferries is desirable at night.
