RAILWAY MEN AND WAGE REDUCTIONS. Notice was given yesterday by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr T. M. Wilford) to ask the Minister for Finance, “Whether, m considering tho question of wage-reduction in the Public Service, he will have regard to the position of men in all branches of the service, including the railway employees, and note the following in regard to such railway men: Outside, unskilled workers reoeived bonuses and increases during the war period amounting to 6s 2d per day on tho basio wage. In the railway service all workers received bonuses which were ultimately consolidated, and made ‘wages/ amounting to 6s per day. Th© Arbitration Court has now ruled that outside labour p\:st suffer a reduction of 5s per week as from May 15th, while members of the railway service have already had a reduction of from 6s t© 8s per week as from January Ist last, and the possibility of a further 6s to 8s per week as from July Ist; and whether he will consider these circumstances f”
