The match between Patterson and Kingscote was the star attraction on the centre court, 'and was witnessed bv a large crowd. The Queen and Earl Balfour attended. The match will rank a* one of the most determined contests In the history of the game. , Patterson's lightning service dominated the first set and'he had tho Englishman easily beaten. Kingscote took the second and third Rets by hard work, assisted by Patterson'* mistakes and faults. The fourth was played in a drizzle and had light.
