ECONOMY MEASURES. Bv Telegraph —Prws twin.—Copyright. MELBOURNE, July 3. Mr Massy-Greene, Minister for Defence, announced that compulsory retirements are contemplated for tho navy, in tho same way os in tho army, but the number of redundant officers and ratings is considerably lees, owing to the fact that a number who were lent by the British Navy will revert back. Tho basis of compensation will be the same as in the army, with certain adjustments.
