BEFORE THE HEW ATTACK
REPUBLICANS LAY NUMEROUS MINES. FREE STATERS HANDICAPPED. DUBLIN, July 2. The Irregulars were still in possession this afternoon of all the buildings they occupied after the tall of the Four Courts. No ooncerted attacks have yet been made, but the Free State forces are surrounding the affected areas in O’Connell street and Rutland square. Sniping and maohine-gun fire have been general throughout the day. The irregulars have laid mines around their positions, so that the Government troops are forced to advance warily, in order to avoid another explosion such as destroyed the Four Courts. A Press sheet issued by the Republicans states that- General O’ M-aillo -and Commandant-General Griffin, who were captured at the Four Courts, have escaped, and arc again operating -with the Republicans, who -have been, reinforced with men .and material. Free State troops are garrisoning Trinity College, where the famous “Book of Kells” and other priceless manuscripts are kept.
