FOUR COURTS WRECKED BY EXPLOSION
FIGHTING CONTINUES ELSEWHERE
The first phase of the Dublin battle, which was brought about by the continued refusal of the Republicans to vacate the Four Courts and the kidnapping of the Free State commander Ceneral O’ConneM, has ended in victory for the Free State troeps. With the Four Courts ablaze ar.d the defenders haggard and hungry, Roty O’Ccnnor hoisted the white flag and a few minutes later he and his followers were the prisoners of the Dail troops, havins surrendered unconditionally. A dramatic incident was the blowing up of the Four Courts, caused, it is stated, by the deliberate explosion of a mine. Fighting continues in Dublin and adjacent districts and further surrenders by irregulars are reported.
