HARRY THURSTON

WITH FULLERS. Harry Thurston, the celebrated English comedian and creator of Bairnsfather’s "Old Bill/* had a tremendous reception upon his first hppearance at Fullers’ Theatre, Sydney. Vaudeville Sitron* will look forward to seeing "Old ill” in Messrs Fullers* New Zealand theatres. Of his first appearance in Australia the "Sydney Sun” writes as follows :—Mr Harry Thurston, the English comedian, quickly captured the capacity audience at Fullers' Theatre yesterday afternoon. The newcomer showed himself an exceptionally gifted artist in character sketches, monologues and comic song-s. One of his most amusing impersonations was that of a hoarsevoiced London Labour spouter. who claimed that every worker should get .£2O a week, with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as holidays, work on Thursday and take Friday and Saturday off. Wearing a heavy black moustache, a thick muffler and the other habiliments of tho tribe, he rolled off the philosophy of the kerbstone at the fastest rate, only stopping now and again to allow the house to recover from its violent laughter spasms. "Chuck the beer into the seal What a thing to do; why it would encourage swimming,” was his view as regards those who would deprive a working man of his liquid refreshment. Another clever sketch by Mr Thurston was that of a ranting old actor telling of his weird experiences on the night ho opened as Macbeth.
