LARGS BAY DISPUTE

REPLY TQ PREMIER MR WALSH CALI. 3 MR HU.GHES A PEEVISH CHILD. ‘ SPLEEN AGAINST THE UNION ” By Telegraph —Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, Juno 30. Mr Walsh, replying to Mr Hughes, said that the Prime Minister was behaving more liko a peevish child than a statesman. It was idle for Mr Hughes to term the seamen dupes for standing by a mate who was singled out for victimisation. Ho disclaimed having any connection with tlie Largs Bay dispute. He did net know why Mr Hughes had singled him out for attack. Apparently Mr Huglios had not got over his spleen against tho union for forcing him to spend half a million in bringing tho Commonwealth Line up to requirements in regard to decency of accommodation. STILL HELD UP DECISION OF SEAMEN’S UNION. (Received June 30, 11.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 30. A mass meeting of the Seamen’s Union reaffirmed the decision not to sail without the man who was objected to by the master of the Largs Bay. Further attempts to secure a volunteer crew failed. It is understood that tho Seamen's Union intends to communicate with the Commonwealth Government, asking for a full inquiry into tho dispute. Mr Hughes was reported to havo do dared that the unions must choose between industrial crucifixion in order to serve Mr. Walsh’s purpose and pander to- his insatiable vanity and am-j hition, or sweep him and his like neck and crop out of the union.
