AN IMPORTANT AMALGAMATION. The announcement has just been received from London of the amalgamation of Spicer Brothers, Limited, and James Spi-er and Sons, Limited, twi of the largest firms in the paper trade in Great Britain. Prior to 1865 the two businesses were one, hut since that date they havo been separate. All the present directors of James Spicer and Sons, Limited, will join the board of the amalgamated company, the Right Hon. Sir Albert Spicer, Bart., becoming chairman, Mr H. C. Spicer deputy-chairman, and Sir Howard Spicer, K.8.E., vioe-chair-cli airman. Mr H. O. Spicer and Sir Howard Spicer will be the managing directors The amalgamated company will ha called “Spicers,” Limited, and the head office will be at 19, New Bridge Street, Blackfriars, which was the head office of the old firm in 1865. James Spicer and Son, Limited, have had a branch in Wellington for many years, Mr W. H. Bruce being the manager for New Zealand.
