MEN AND WOMEN BEWARE!
GREEN PEAS AND DIVORCE. . During the first day® of this week the cause list of the Divorce Court is full of the undefended dissolution suits, and a large number of them are stigmatised “war-time” marriages, says the “Daily Chronicle” of May Ist. Fifteen yeans ago a different reason was assigned for the growth in divoroe figures. At the Pathological Congress held in Paris, canons statements were made about vegetables and the effect they produced on the human race. Haricot beans, which we beard so much of in war time, were supposed to give brain and brawn; spinach would prevent dawdling in the aouaebold; but green peas were to be taboo, for it was said that they developed frivolity and made women capricious and reckless. Men and women flirt- .
ed under their influence, and the pathologists attributed a majority of the divorce cases to the eating of peas.
